Due to recent regulatory changes , any development on property in a designated bushfire prone area (i.e. within 100m of a hectare of contiguous vegetation) requires a bushfire hazard management plan prepared by an accredited person in accordance with Australian Standard AS 3959 Construction of Buildings in Bushfire-prone Areas.
If your property is in a designated bushfire prone area, a site assessment is required and must be submitted to your Council with application for building permit prior to building. This applies to both new homes as well as renovations to existing homes, irrespective of whether or not vegetation is present on or adjacent to the site.
A site inspection where slope, distance to vegetation and type of vegetation is measured and assessed is the only accurate way to perform a BAL assessment. We inspect your development site to obtain information which allows us to prepare an accurate BAL classification, written report, photos and bushfire management plan suitable for lodging with your planning and/or building permit.
Our service includes looking at different options to determine whether a lower BAL can be achieved, as this can significantly reduce the cost of construction. A higher BAL also restricts design considerations.

The cost of providing a Bushfire Risk Assessment is largely dependent on the quality and quantity of documentation and information you can provide to us. To minimise costs we suggest that you provide us with the following:
Site address or location and basic directions, access information and gate keys.
Current copy of title
Site Plan (to scale) showing the footprint of proposed and existing structures and site works (an electronic copy in pdf format is preferred)
External footprint of proposed structures should be accurately pegged or marked out on site.
Indication of property boundaries on site.
Floor plan, elevations and sections where available.
